here's something about me and football.

i don't think i've ever liked every player in a team at a single time. The most I ever came to was ManU in their prime, but then I didn't like Dwight Yorke, and then this year Germany, but I dislike Neuville. :| even him scoring the last minute goal against Poland to ensure Germany being the first team to qualify for the second round couldn't get me to like him.

Every other team I support is mostly because of one player, or at best two.

I support Portugal cause of Figo, despite C. Ronaldo. Italy for Canna, despite Totti, Camoranesi, Zambrotta, Gattuso and now Materazzi. I supported Spain a little for all the cuteness, but I never really liked their players.

And I supported France because of Zizou, in spite of Henry, Viera and Barthez.

And then there are teams I can't bring myself to even like or enjoy. Like England because of so many reasons. One of the big ones is because they're so many players from Chelski and Liverpool I can't bring myself to support them. I supported England in WC 2002, I remember being upset while at camp when I heard they lost to Brazil.

But back then, the club I loved was still the club I loved. Now I don't know how I feel about ManU. Fergie's all out of ideas, he's buying players who exhibit bad behaviour on the pitch, eg. Looney Rooney & Alan Smith. And he buys wingers who can't stay on their feet, e.g. C. Ronaldo and Park. Now I don't like all the ManU players, except maybe Neville. Odd seeing how Neville used to be one of my least liked players from the "original squad". Fergie's been removing bits and bits of what I so dearly love about Man U. Starting with Cole and Yorke.. Then the most hyped about loss of Becks, and most recently Keane. The team I loved is all dispersed, and like Margaret Mitchell's novel, all Gone With the Wind. :(

But since Euros 04, Nevillle and Becks haven't been enough to make me support England anymore with all the Terry, Lampard and Gerrard. :/ Not to mention them having the worst fans in the world, imo.

I hadn't thought it this hard to watch all the players I adore so play their [for some possibly] last world cups. :( Watching Figo go was hard, but having him in this team was a bonus seeing as how almost the whole Golden Generation stopped after Euros 04. Michael Ballack and Torsten turn 30 this year, might very possibly be their last WC. :/ Kahn and Lehmann both 36 this year I think.. :(

But no departure makes me sadder than watching Zizou's. Prior to his sending off, I was actually rooting for Canna's side, but after he got sent off, I so desperately wanted the French to win, I didn't want any blame to fall on Zizou. But as fate would have it... :(

I really really like Zizou so :( despite all that balding, and despite that red card. :( despite everything :(

and it's so sad to see him go like that.

*sigh*
